Success resources are available to help you refine both academic, and life skills.  Individual coaching or counseling sessions, independent online tutorials, and active learning classroom experiences are available. Investing time and energy into developing your skills will help you now, and with your future career. 

Services & Resources

Effective U is a series of self-paced, interactive, online tutorials addressing a variety of academic skills topics. Work through as many or as few as you like whenever you wish. 

Academic Skills Coaching is a one-to-one service for students who want to explore new skills for increased efficiency and effectiveness in their academic efforts. Academic Coaching is strictly skill-based in focus. Going to a consultation is like having your own private workshop on an academic question or issue you are curious about.

Student Academic Success Services offers several courses for academic credit. These courses help you understand who you are as a learner and help to strategize ways to reach optimum success with your coursework.

Student Counseling Services (SCS) offers individualized support to help you address factors impacting academic performance that are not necessarily skillbased such as procrastination, motivation, perfectionism, test anxiety, lack of interest, and struggles with professors/TAs.

International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) is the office dedicated to serving the University of Minnesota’s international community. ISSS offers counseling to international students and scholars about academic, career, personal, legal, and family matters.
